Dog’s are people’s best friends. Honestly, we couldn’t agree more. Pets enhance our life like nothing else. They offer companionship, unconditional love, and a best friend for life. We are happy to welcome pets of most shapes and sizes; they just need to be polite. Humans are taught politeness from an early age, but what about your animals? We want everyone to have a happy life here at Harmony, that’s why we’re sharing our top apartment etiquette tips for your dog.
Keep Rough Play Outside
There’s something exhilarating about an exciting game of tug o’ war. You and your dog, battling it out, seeing who will be victorious in the end. We love tug o’ war, your neighbors might not though. As we’re sure you know, dogs can growl and yelp loudly when going wild on their rope toys. We don; want you to stop playing tug o’ war, but if your dog is loud, just play outside.
Exercise Is Key
One of the best things you can do for your dog is exercise! If you need to leave the house for work every day, make sure to walk your dog for at least 30 minutes. This ensures your dog will take care of their business and tire themselves out for the day. When dogs receive enough exercise they are calmer, they’re more likely to sleep while you’re out. Also, exercise keeps you, and your dog, in tip-top condition.
Play Mind Games
A bored dog is not a good dog. Boredom can lead to destructive or loud behaviors. One of the best things you can do to combat this is to invest in puzzle games. Puzzle games for dogs are treat based games that force your dog to complete a maze, open some compartments, or roll a ball around for treats. These engaging games can keep your dog occupied for hours.
Leave No Trace
When you have animals, campground rules apply; leave it in better condition than you found it. Especially in common areas. If it's raining or muddy out, bring a towel with you and clean your dog’s paws before coming inside. If your dog makes a mess outside, clean it up. Did they accidentally throw up in the hall, clean it. Part of being a responsible owner is cleaning up after all the messes.
We love having a strong community at Harmony, help us maintain our neighborly love by minding your pet’s manners. Do you have any apartment etiquette tips for your dog? Let us know in the comments!
