With the new year comes new ideas and new goals to help start the year on the right foot. These goals tend to be self-based, having to do with weight loss, creativity, relationships, etc.; however, your goals can be expanded upon to include the environment around you. Check out some New Year’s resolutions for your apartment to help shape a happy home.

Out with the old and in with the new! During the holidays, you probably received some awesome gifts and your home is starting to feel a little cluttered. This is the perfect time to throw out some old things now that you have new ones to replace them with. Let’s leave 2019 in the past and start our new year fresh. Decluttering your home will also help declutter your mind, allowing you to achieve your personal goals as well as your apartment ones.

Safety First

Over the past year, and perhaps with the disassembly of your holiday decorations, there is a good chance that safety fell to the wayside. Make it a resolution to safety proof your apartment. This resolution doesn’t just entail the locks on your door, but also carbon monoxide detectors, overloaded extension cords, fire detectors, and much more. Check your dryer lint trap for build-up, make sure your windows are all secured, and make sure your home is a safe and healthy environment for you to thrive in.

Go Green

Are you aware of your carbon footprint, or energy usage? Make it a goal this year to become more aware and implement changes to help the environment. Simple things such as turning off the water while brushing your teeth or unplugging electrical devices when not in use can go a long way in reducing your output.

Now that you know some new ways to set resolutions for you and your home, which ones will you be adding to your list? Let us know in the comments below. Let’s make this the year we hit all of our goals and go above and beyond!
